Contact Seminar "Learning from each other in collaboration"

Barcelona, Spain, May 19 - 23, 2004

Comp@ct Contact Seminar is a good opportunity for you as a teacher who is willing to develop a transnational collaboration project in the Comenius 1 framework. By participating the seminar you will learn the key elements of transnational project and application procedure, find partners, experience how to succesfully integrate ICT and to plan the project.

20 - 22 May 2004 (travelling days; arrivals on Wednesday 19, departures on Sunday 23)

Venue and Organiser

The contact seminar is organised in the premises of Education Department by the Catalan partner in Comp@ct, Departament d’Ensenyament (http://www.xtec.es/compact) in cooperation with the network partnership and will be held on the premises of the Education Department, Via Augusta 202.

Target Group

The target group is primary and secondary school teachers interested in starting a COMENIUS 1 involving the integration of ICT.

  • information and interesting practice of ICT integration in transnational project work
  • concrete experience of using web-based tools and possibility to have one tool for trial period



Costs

Contact Seminar fee is 350 - 450 € depending on the choice of accommodation.

There are 2 different options of staying:

  • Martí Codolar (reservations for 40 persons); cheaper (more information will be availble soon)
  • IBIS Hotel (reservations for 40 persons) 450 €


Funding

As one of the main aims of a Contact seminar is to promote the development of new COMENIUS 1 projects, funding (up to a max. of 1000 EUR per person) is possible out from the Preparatory visits budget for COMENIUS 1.

  • use of virtual learning environments in education
  • best practice in collaboration via online media
  • use of emerging technologies (streaming media, media on demand solutions, audio broadcasting) in education



Objectives
  • provide background information about Comenius, especially Comenius 1 school projects
  • provide an opportunity for partner-finding and creating new, ICT-based projects
  • offer ideas and tools for making effective use of ICT for transnational collaboration projects
  • give advice on preparing an application and on strategies for evaluation and
  • dissemination
  • provide networking opportunities with others who can assist with project
  • development and with the use of ICT.



Expected Outcomes

New Comenius 1 projects using pedagogically meaningful methods are foreseen as a result of this event.

Programme

Three working days of Contact Seminar - including the participation of some sessions in Thematic Conference - offers you a lot of information for developing a future project, examples of good practice and allows you to experience some ICT usage on concrete level.

Preparation

Please make yourself familiar with COMENIUS 1 beforehand. You will find
information on COMENIUS on the Europa–server.

Please try to read the ”Handbook”, available at your National Agency, and try to get the application forms in your national language as well as in English as a preparation. This will facilitate communication with your a colleagues during the Contact seminar and will contribute to the success of your future project!
