IPM Tools' International Seminar in Vilnius, May 20 - 25, 2002: New tools and more network for 2nd project year

"Common language" has been built

During the first project year the 32 pilot schools in Estonia, Lithuania, Norway, Slovenia and Finland have got acquainted with Peda.net WebMagazine. All pilot schools have the same tool but they can use it with their own language version.

Now the pilot schools have some kind of common language and they know by their own experience how to use webbased tool and what it means in every day schoolwork. So during the first year pilot schools have got so called common language by using one tool.

New tools

Next autumn IPM Tools schools have a possibility to use new tools:

  • In Finland: NetGate portal tools, offered by Peda.net
  • In Estonia: Vigo, offered to schools by Tigerleap foundation
  • In Spain: likely tool called BSCW (Basic support for Collaborative work)
  • In Lithuania: NetGate
  • In Slovenia: NetGate
  • In Norway: schools have access to Fronter tool.

Building bridges between schools

Next autumn and school year there will be not only new tools but also more contacts and cooperation between the participating schools in national level.

Within the first year schools have mainly worked alone using their own Magazines with their own students.
Among the schools there's interest to have INTERNATIONAL Magazines with foreign correspondents. This means that the Magazines are thematic and there will be in same Magazine reporters from several schools and countries.

Best practice examples

In the next autumn there's available also material that deals best practice examples. So there are introduced national good examples how the WebMagazine have been used by different criteria. Addition to that there will also be some information how these things were carried out (e.g. what kind of process was behind this article, how the layout of this article was done).
