Challenges and Opportunities with Online Communication

Using modern technology in your project work and education provides you certainly many times challenges, adventures and frustration moments. But those teachers who have been involved with the different learning methods have noticed that they are themselves and many, sometimes most of the students are satisfied. No wonder they want to learn some new methods and tools!

What are the challenges?
  • how to get the needed experience to use (-> take time, be patient and try, after every shot you are more experienced)
  • how to choose good tools (-> remember your purpose and resources)
  • how to manage with financial resources (-> make inquiries about the costs that have to be paid; official budget + get sponsor)
  • how to get support (-> introduce the project in-house and even demand for it)
  • how to manage with time (-> there's only 24 hours per day; project schedule and deadlines must be done and obeyed)
  • how to survive (-> ask for good advice of those who have already managed it! :-))

You'll have opportunity to learn usefull things, to meet challenges and survive, to get to know different people in this field, to formulate new structures, to find motivated people with their tasks...

What about problems?

Unfortunately new technology and procedures quite often include problems too. Preparing and positive attitude are worthwhile when encountering:

  • technical problems (with computers, software, connections - imcompatible guarantee doesn't always take into account different versions, variance of system file)
  • connection problems (-> check configuration, try to find expert)
  • lack of (updated) instructions (-> find/create/update)
  • lack of confidence, trust with involved persons (-> support/assure)
  • do you want more? ;-)

Prepare to problems and then forget them - have only challenges!

See Evaluating Project Work - criteria can describe the things we need to consider in implementing project.
